Slowing Down to Speed Up: Winter’s Wisdom

Dead leaves in winter: Winter teaches us to embrace stillness and prepare for renewal.

Winter has a reputation. It’s the season of stillness, of deep exhale, of the earth pulling its energy inward. And for the first time, instead of resisting it, I’m leaning in.

The Pagan Wheel of the Year has been my guide, whispering what nature already knows: this is the season to slow down so we can eventually move with real power.

It’s no accident that we’re always exhausted. The world keeps shoving chaos in our faces—bad news, endless scrolling, the pressure to do more, be more, fix more.

It’s all designed to hijack our nervous systems, push us into survival mode, and keep us running on fumes.

But here’s the truth: stepping into fear and stepping into love?? It takes the same amount of energy. The difference? One is reactive, and the other is intentional.

One owns you. The other? You own it.

That’s why winter is hitting differently this year. I’m watching the trees stand bare but unbothered, the animals retreat without apology. There's a certain gold that only appears when the temperature is near zero and the morning sun shines just right on the dense roots of the glassy grass.

Nature doesn’t panic about the pause. It leans in.

And that’s my practice now—slowing the hell down not because I’m giving up, but because I’m gearing up.

This season isn’t about stagnation. It’s about integration. It’s about reclaiming my rhythm instead of reacting to someone else’s. When spring comes, I won’t be scrambling. I’ll be ready.

Because slowing down isn’t stopping—it’s just gathering momentum.

My sweetheart is an extremely talented chef who runs his kitchen like an orchestra. At the heart of his rhythm is this simple concept. For some, it's mind-boggling to grasp. Others never do.

And if this hits home for you? Let’s keep the conversation going.

My book, my podcast, my stepping into my work as a speaker and teacher—it’s all about breaking free, reclaiming my energy, and stepping into something real.

Let’s talk. Let’s collaborate. Let’s fucking unlearn the hustle culture together.
