Not Everything Is a Sign

Sometimes, It’s Just a Hair in Your Broccolini 🥦🙃

A young woman sits on the side of the road by a field, raising a peace sign with her fingers—symbolizing trust that the universe is always speaking and showing how to let life flow without overanalyzing every moment. #NotEverythingIsASign

There it was. A single human hair lying at the bottom of my kitchen sink. Wrapped in and around a half-eaten broccolini stem—its other half tragically consumed before I noticed the intruder.

This is not a restaurant horror story. Oh no.

This hair came sealed inside a bag of broccolini from Sam’s Club.

Let me repeat: It survived processing, packaging, transport, stocking, and my own kitchen prep. It made it into my dinner. And now it’s just sitting there, haunting me, daring me to assign it some deeper meaning.

Because that’s what we do, isn’t it? We don’t just experience life—we interpret it.

But…Is It a Sign? 🤔

People love to say that nothing is a coincidence. And I believe that. Life is deeply connected. Patterns exist. The universe is always speaking.

But sometimes, we go too far. We start thinking that everything is a coded message we need to decipher.

A flight gets delayed—Is this a sign I shouldn’t go?

Your ex texts you out of nowhere—Is the universe telling me something?

A bird lands on your windowsill—What does this MEAN?!

Sometimes, we get so caught up in trying to figure life out that we forget to actually live it.

And yet… this stupid hair.

In my broccolini.

From a sealed bag.

Now rotting in my sink like some existential omen.

My brain wants to make it mean something.

  • Am I ignoring a warning?

  • Is this the universe reminding me that nothing is ever fully clean?

  • Am I about to uncover some deep hidden truth about my life??

Or—and hear me out—it’s just a hair in my vegetables, and I need to stop giving it main-character energy.

The Universe is Always Speaking—But That’s the Point

Here’s the shift: Instead of overanalyzing every single thing, what if we trusted that the universe is always speaking—so we don’t have to constantly be on high alert?

The magic isn’t in dissecting every little moment. The magic is in knowing that everything is as it should be. That nothing is random, but also—you don’t have to crack the code.

There’s a quiet permission in that.

You don’t have to hyper-focus on every detail. The messages meant for you will arrive.

You don’t have to dig for meaning. Meaning will find you.

You don’t have to hold everything so tightly. The universe already has you.

It’s like a gentle whisper saying, I’ve got this. You go be magic.

Because when you stop gripping so hard—when you let life unfold instead of trying to force it into perfect understanding—you realize: You were never off track. You were never missing anything.

And suddenly, the hair in your broccolini is just a hair in your broccolini.

So take a deep breath. Trust life. And for the love of all things holy, just throw the damn broccolini stem away already. 🤢‼️
